This program welcomes middle and high school students who have been playing their instruments for a minimum of one year and are ready to advance their skills by working with professional musicians. A good mix of music and summertime fun is the hallmark of String Odyssey. Students do not have to audition to register for String Odyssey. On the first day of camp, all students will play a short placement audition consisting of specific excerpts. Students are then placed in one of the two String Odyssey orchestras depending on skill level:
- Orchestra Cantabile – conducted by Mr. Matthew Wilson
- Orchestra Con Brio – conducted by Ms. Rebecca Jilcott
String Odyssey enrolls approximately 100 string players each summer. A limited number of positions per instrument are available and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. This is especially true for violins. Apply early to reserve your slot! Day and overnight resident options are available. Resident campers must be at least 12 years of age at the time of camp.
