The spirit of Orchestra Project!
JUNE 23–28, 2013
Orchestra Project, a joint venture between VCU Music and the Richmond Symphony, is a unique summer orchestra camp. Students study with VCU professors and full-time musicians from the Richmond Symphony. The camp is designed to immerse young players in the magic of music making on the campus of VCU. The mission of Orchestra Project is to bring about transformative growth in young musicians in one week's time. Dorm and day options available.Designed for advanced string players currently in grades 8 through 12, String Intensive provides a week of workshops that encourage students to dig deep into chamber and string orchestra music. Chamber music faculty not only coach their ensembles, they play WITH them. Planned recreation and socializing opportunities round out an unforgettable week.
This program welcomes students who have been playing their instruments for a minimum of two years and are ready to advance their skills by working with professional musicians. A good mix of music and summertime fun is the hallmark of String Odyssey.
